She belongs to the list that the nari mandal would love to hate— sassy, sensational and obviously hot. The girl from Mumbai after an item presentation in Feroz Nadiadwala's Aan— Men at Work, starring Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, and Bombay Viking's Hawa me udati jaye, followed it up with assignments overseas apart from fashion shows only to come out scorching the ramp. For Lakme India Fashion Week she walked the ramp for Rina Dhaka, Wendell Rodricks and Meera and Muzzafar Ali. The celebrity model was recently in town for the fashion show held as part of the Hyderabad International Gems & Jewellery Show 2005.
A chai buff, she speaks about her forthcoming projects those that are close to her heart, in between the rehearsal breaks before the fashion show, as she sips the cuppa hot Irani special chai looking forward for another. "Currently I am shooting for the television," she says. A project that is taking most of her time now is Page 3, the talk show on Zoom TV.
"Its all about gossips, parties and events happening in Indian metros, lifestyle and fashion as well," she explains. Ask her if she is an avid party animal, "I am not into partying. No," she says. The stage is where her heart is, one soon finds, as Gauhar follows sister and television artist Nigaar Khan, known for her superb performance in Paritosh Painter's See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, for yet another Painter production.
"The play is titled Kya Karen Control Nahin Hota. Paintal and Sudheer Pandey are the other two popular artistes in the production," she says about the side-splitting comedy inspired by Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Shaukeen. Gauhar plays the lead role of the vivacious Pinky who has two middle-aged men lusting for her.
"It is a laugh riot. We will be touring the country with the play and shortly taking it overseas," says Gauhar. As the next probable step, Bollywood calling, read sensible roles, "soon. I have been around for four years and would like to be associated with cinema as also television with good roles," she says.
A few pearls of wisdom for wannabe models, "be yourself, know your strong points, carry yourself with dignity, proceed with decency and work hard," sums up the diva.
