When almost every other well-known model is stepping off the ramp to sizzle on the small screen's latest music video, here's one who simply says "Thanks, but no thanks!"
Model and VJ Gauhar Khan feels there's a lot more to do in the world of showbiz than raunchy music video numbers. "I might do a song in a movie, if at all, but no music videos please," says the attractive young lady, who was in Hyderabad, this weekend, for a fashion show.
Gauhar's reasons are plain and clear. "Why would I want to do videos? The music industry is doing so badly. It's flooded with bad singers and every music video seems to be more about body showing. And showing skin on the ramp is very different from doing it on TV. On the ramp, you do it to show off the outfit you are wearing, but on television it's not classy," she says.
Incidentally, Gauhar is not interested in doing movies either. "I'm really quite busy doing what I'm doing. Right now my priority is my television show and my modelling assignments," she says.
And Gauhar, for now, is mighty happy with her VJing. "I'm really enjoying it. It's a call-in show, so I get to talk to all kinds of people. I even get to interview stars. Basically, I'm having a great time. The best part about VJing is that you get to be yourself. On the ramp and as a model you have to be at your best behaviour. It can get quite boring after a point of time," she says.
But then, Gauhar has with her the perfect antidote to boredom – her fiancée, Sajid Khan. Just say the name, and a smile sparkles on her face. So what's it like to be engaged to everyone's favourite funny man? "Simply divine," smiles Gauhar. "Oh, but everyone only knows the funny side to him. Please remember that I also get to see the angry and grumpy side to him," she adds laughing.
Nevertheless, life with Sajid is a laugh-a-minute-riot for Gauhar. "We both share one common passion. Watching movies. He has a big mini theatre at home and that's where we usually watch movies together. And believe me with Sajid, watching movies is a fantastic experience, he is such a big encyclopedia of films!" she says.
The couple, in all probability, will tie the knot next year. "I don't see my life changing much after marriage. In fact, I hope to take my career a long way.
